The Lead Employer The Lead Employer is Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SUHFT) The Lead Employer scheme began in August 2013 when the ST1 Trainees were recruited From August 2014, SUHFT became the Lead Employer for all Trainees We have 136 Trainees classed as a Legacy Case
Honorary Contracts The combined individual educational agreement, trainer agreement and honorary contract Replaces the GP Trainee Appointment Form Completion of a seven page document Return to HEEoE via e-mail Once authorised, trainers grant released (invoice required) Trainers grant now paid in full, rather than monthly
Legacy Cases Trainees remain employed with their current Practice or Trust until the end of their training or next placement move Can’t move to the Lead Employer if a current employment contract is in place Reasons – maternity leave, sick leave, LTFT, extensions to training Processes remain as were
