Age of Jackson 1. suffrage - the right to vote 2. campaigning - working in an organized way towards a political goal 3. populist - a member of a political party representing ordinary people 4. democracy - a government ran by the people 5. landslide - an overwhelming majority of votes 6. spoils system - practice of a politcal party giving public office to its supporters

Age of Jackson Vocabulary 7. tariff - a tax on imported goods 8. protective tariff – a tax to raise prices on imports to make consumers purchase domestic goods 9. import - products or good brought in from another country 10. export - products or goods sent to another country
