Waiting for the Gates to Open A Sonnet by Mr. Brown Pounding excitement beats hard in my chest As the crisp autumn wind creaks in the trees. Banner flying, emblazoned with my crest Eager eyes, hands cradling warm coffees. Smiles and shouts of greeting fill the air, We have been waiting all year for this day. Months spent sewing costumes with loving care Day dreaming of frolicking with the fae. We gather tightly around the fire Waiting impatiently for the new dawn. Singing songs, we make an awful choir Look! There’s even a man dressed as a faun. We turn our faces to greet the sunrise The gates open to the sound of our cries.
