Presentation transcript:

Bell Ringer Gallery Walk (LL) What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? Bell Ringer Gallery Walk (LL) Number your composition notebook from 1-6. Walk around the room with your notebook and look at each Holocaust picture. As you look at each picture, write an explanation of what the picture is. Once you are finished with all six pictures, take your seat.

Bell Ringer Gallery Walk (HL) What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? Bell Ringer Gallery Walk (HL) Number your composition notebook from 1-6. Walk around the room with your notebook and look at each Holocaust picture. As you look at each picture, write an inference describing what you think the picture is portraying. Once you are finished with all six pictures, take your seat.

What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? Summary vs. Critique A summary includes the main points of the passage using only facts. A critique is when you form your opinion about the passage and include your own comments and judgement.

What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? https://www.flocabulary.com/unit/summarizing/ Summary Example In "My Favorite Shoe," Treyvon Jones explains that Nike shoes are the best brand of running shoe for serious track athletes. Jones supports this view by pointing out that Nike shoes are more comfortable, last longer, and provide more cushioning for the feet. He notes that the statistics from sales and scientific evidence of how Nike shoes are better for the feet support his claim. In addition, Jones points out that most professional runners use Nike and he tells his own story of how he won the 100-meter men's competition after switching to Nike shoes.

What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? Critique Example I enjoyed reading this story but did find the reading a challenge. The structure was very creative but is quite complex.  It also limits dialogue, and I find reading stories without dialogue more like reading essays, which is not as much fun.

What inferences can I make? What is an objective summary of the events? Summary or Critique?

Timeline Summary Activity Read the article you grabbed when you walked in. After you read your article, write a SUMMARY of the article on your notecard. Think about the Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How of the article Once you are finished with your summary, have me check it. Once your summary is checked, tape it to the wall with the date it is associated with.
