Review of Problem Areas Referee Meeting Review of Problem Areas

Fouls By K on Scrimmage/Free Kicks Both: Essential as a crew to determine when the foul by K occurs Never KCI Scrimmage Kicks: Has not been a problem statewide. Free Kicks: Remember to give the offended team the option of rekick Multiple fouls Onside Kick illegal contact

Restricted Area Warnings/Penalties FIRST OFFENSE: Warning SECOND: Five Yards Signals? (Hint: One is dead ball) THIRD and EACH THEREAFTER: Fifteen yards Signals? Who receives the burden of these subsequent penalties? Are they USL?

Sideline Interference This is a CONTACT foul. It is not a USL. It is unintentional contact between an official and a non-player in the restricted area or on the field during a live ball. FIRST: Fifteen yards from the succeeding spot. Signals? SECOND: Fifteen yards succeeding spot and ejection of the head coach. Signals? (Hint: No USL) DO NOT combine with USL to eject head coach

USL on Bench Unlike basketball USL to bench/non-players are charged directly to them. Not the head coach.

Three Separate Penalties to Track Sideline/Restricted area Sideline/Interference Direct USL to non-players or on field players It is possible for a head coach to get USL penalties and they accumulate without his actual involvement

Dead Ball Contact Common and most instances end with voice or whistle intervention PERSISTENT contact results in PERSONAL FOULS- may or may not offset NOT USL

POINTS OF EMPHASIS Efficient ball rotation and placement Weather Delays- review this in White Book. EQUIPMENT: Neutral Officials Different standards may have been applied Teams travel greater distances without additional uniforms Eliminate problem in PREGAME

GHSA OVERTIME PROCEDURE GOAL: Every team will start their series on the fifteen yard line CARRYOVERS identified in NFHS Rules DO NOT EXIST in GHSA You may still have to administer a dead ball foul or USL that will affect the starting position but this is VERY RARE Review the Overtime Procedures section on the GHSA Training website ghsafootballtrainingcenter.weebly.com
