Things to Do With Your Child at Home Written By: Ashley Leasure

Homework Assistance This is perhaps the most important thing that you can do to help your child succeed educationally. It is very important to be involved in your child’s education. The support and encouragement that you can give your child will go a long way. Even if your child does not have homework that day, ask them to show you what they did and talk to them about their day.

Print Out Worksheets, Coloring Pages, and Educational Activities In the Helpful Websites page on my website, I have listed a few very nice websites that offer free printable pages that you and your child can complete.

“Field Trips” Turn every day outings with your family and child into an educational experience. Grocery shopping is a great way for children to learn understanding of money. Trips to the park can be educational as well. Reinforcing the concepts of opposites (up and down on the teeter totter, top of slide, bottom of slide, etc)

Involve Involve your child and have them help you with every day tasks at home. Things such as helping to clean the table, set the table, throw their trash away, pick up their toys, etc. Encourage and praise them when they complete a task as asked.

Everything that you do to involve your child will help them. Children feel proud and a sense of satisfaction when they are doing and helping do things that “adults” do. Encouragement and praise is vital in every aspect!
