Using Proportions with Percent

Write down this Proportion! percent = Part 100 Whole The number after the word “of” is the denominator (bottom number).

Using Proportion to find Percent Ex. 5 is what percent of 25? n = 5 (part) 100 25 (whole) Solve for n. Round to the tenths place You Try: What percent of 60 is 15? (set up & solve)

Here is the Proportion again! percent = Part 100 Whole

Using proportion to find Part Remember: percent always goes over 100! The number after the word “of” is the denominator. Ex. What is 75% of 95? 75 = n 100 95 You Try: 49% of 128 is what number? – round to tenths place.

Here is the Proportion again! percent = Part 100 Whole

Using Proportion to find Whole HINT: The number after the word “of” is the denominator. Ex. 30% of what number is 5 30 = 5 100 n You Try: 86 is 65% of what number? (round to tenths place)

Here is the Proportion again! percent = Part 100 Whole
