Your Mission: To be one of the elite SiS students in Bedfordshire and Luton to start a volunteer placement! (Around 160 students will take part in Step into Sport across the county in 2008/09) Community Volunteering

Each year a number of young people from your school/college are selected to become Community Volunteers - young people who will volunteer in local clubs, community groups, or at events. A Leadership Academy is a leadership club designed to provide high quality, regular support, training and development for young people that are committed to actively volunteering to enable them to develop and grow as leaders and volunteers. The need for coaches to understand and act on their responsibilities is important to sport, as is the need to protect the key concept of participation for fun and enjoyment as well as achievement. This is implicit within good coaching practice. This code of conduct available via the following link defines all that is best in good coaching practice and provides clear guidance to take into your coaching / volunteering. Code of Conduct Child Protection It is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that sport activities are safe and FUN!!! It is essential that everybody from parents/carers to sports coaches and leaders are aware of good practice to ensure that a childs safety is paramount in sport. In your volunteer placement it is highly likely that you will be working with young people in a sporting environment and therefore the leaflet available via the following link is designed to provide you with more information on good practice to help you to ensure that children can enjoy sport within a safe and secure environment. It is also hope that the information will enable you to feel more confident and comfortable when working with young people. Providing children with positive sporting experiences means that they will be more likely to achieve their true potential.
