RIS615 Human-Computer Interaction Presented by Lizette de Wet

General Build on foundation established in 2nd year RIS224 Focus is on: Measuring the user experience Usability Engineering

Objective To equip the student with a theoretical background and practical experience in Human-Computer Interaction, with specific emphasis on Usability Engineering. In-depth knowledge and understanding of issues involved in the evaluation of user interfaces for interactive systems. Combination of theory and practical work, with emphasis on the latter

Ultimate Module Outcome After successful completion of the module, the student should: have planned, conducted and analysed a usability study, making use of the usability laboratory and its equipment in the department.

Assessment Continuous assessment 2 Module Evaluations (tests) during the semester covering the text book Few smaller assignments during semester (based on research) One large practical assignment to be worked on throughout the semester, covering all the work done

Contact Sessions Mondays 17:10 – 19:00 Dates will be provided WWG223 No spoon feeding – contact sessions (not lectures) to provide information, discuss difficult issues, give feedback, and discuss problems encountered / interesting observations, experiences or research by students. Contact sessions are compulsory interactive discussions arranged in such a way that preparation is essential!
