Answer on your whiteboards

Big Picture PE and Sport Faculty Last lesson we identified the difference between protective equipment and performance equipment. What was the difference? We then looked at three different ways of identifying safety hazards in sport; risk assessments, safety checks and emergency action plans. This lesson we will be starting to look at intrinsic factors that can influence the risk of injury and specifically how physical preparation can increase/reduce the risk of injury.

PE and Sport Faculty Title: Intrinsic factors – Physical preparation Tuesday, 01 January 2019 Title: Intrinsic factors – Physical preparation Lesson Outcomes: Identify the different forms of physical preparation Describe the different ways that we can physically prepare for exercise Explain using sporting examples how different methods of physical preparation can influence the risk of injury occurring in sport. Analyse past exam questions on this topic area and apply your knowledge and understanding

Intrinsic PE and Sport Faculty Physical preparation 10 mins http://www.classtools.net/education-games-php/timer Each pair has been given an information sheet on a different sports person. You must read it and use the information to create a poster which describes: The method of physical preparation Who the sports person is How this method of preparation increased or decreased the risk of injury occurring in their sport. This will be completed in pairs on the magazine article template provided **Make sure this is informative as the other people in the class will be using this shortly! **

PE and Sport Faculty Information race Task: You must now collect information on all of the different methods of physical preparation from around the room, using your peers posters. By the end of this task you will be able to describe and explain using sporting examples how each method of physical preparation can influence the risk of injury occurring in sport. Students to add information to their worksheets on each method of physical preparation, sporting example and how it can increase or reduce the risk of injury.

PE and Sport Faculty Create 5 questions from today’s lesson on your whiteboard. You have 5 minutes to do this. You will then ask your partner to answer the 5 questions without using any of their notes from today’s lesson. Give them a mark out of 5 for their answers.
