Other agencies, laws and organizations Suite of tools to safeguard and assist military children What the compact is and what it covers Grades K-12 Enrollment, academic placement, graduation requirements, extracurricular participation and sports Records keeping and transfer Framework for schools families to work within to solve issues What the compact is not Children outside K-12 EXAMPLE: Placement at universities, in-state tuition District placement/choice EXAMPLE: TDY move to one town and seeking placement in a neighboring town where the family does not reside Children of reservists not on active duty EXAMPLE: TDG (T32 not on T10) wants their child to attend a different school district or be placed in a grade for which they have not met the eligibility requirements Who the compact covers Children of active duty service members Children of reservists (T32) on active duty (T32) – how do we reach out and educate families of reservists/guardsmen, and how do we educate school districts who don’t service active duty servicemen, and don’t know how many children of reservists they have? What should the compact be Expanded role? Is the compact designed to be a catch all? Should it be? What does it not do that it could while still keeping to its current scope? What does it not provide for that other laws do? Other agencies, laws and organizations – What other laws and bodies exist to serve the military child, organizations that provide services to military members and their dependents Suite of tools to safeguard and assist military children – coordination of the compact commission and these other agencies and enforcement of the laws.
