Frontal Section Divides body into anterior (front) and posterior (back)
Transverse Section Divides body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) parts
Dorsal Cavities (posterior) Cranial: inside skull brain Spinal: extends from cranial cavity to end of vertebral column Spinal cord
Ventral (anterior) cavities Thoracic: inside rib cage above diaphragm Lungs, heart
Abdominopelvic: inferior (below) the diaphragm Abdominal: superior Stomach, liver, intestines Pelvic: inferior Reproductive organs, bladder, rectum
Umbilical: center (navel) Epigastric: above umbilical Hypogastric (pubic): below umbilical Right and Left Iliac (Inguinal): right above hip Right and Left Lumbar: lateral to umbilical Right and Left Hypochondriac: contain lower ribs, lateral to epigastric
