How to Access the UDL Guidelines

Instructions You will need to bring a 1-subject spiral notebook or composition book. You will be divided into two groups (Group A and Group B) and assigned 8-10 checkpoints. You will have approximately 10 minutes per checkpoint to create something to add to your interactive notebook for each checkpoint. Make one copy for yourself and one copy to share with a friend (in the other group).

What is an Interactive Notebook? A notebook for a topic or subject that includes additional visual features or notes presented in a variety of formats. Why use an interactive notebook? Allows you to process information to improve your understanding. Helps you learn new ideas using different types of writing and graphics. Take big ideas and break them down into smaller parts. Ideas and relationships are highlighted or written in color. Activities are included to help understanding. Foldables and graphics are used to show relationships. Writing notes doesn’t mean you know the information. You must actively do something with that information to truly understand it. Be playful and creative with your notes. Color to help important information stand out.
