Mendel’s Laws Law of Dominance: if the two alleles at a locus differ, then one, the dominant allele, determines the organism′s appearance; the other, the.
Incomplete dominance This is when neither allele is dominant.
Exceptions to Mendel’s laws. 1) Incomplete dominance Some alleles are not completely dominant and the offspring will have a “blending” of the parents.
 Genes are found on the X AND Y chromosomes.  Genes that are carried on the sex chromosomes are called sex linked genes.

Inheritance. Types of Inheritance Dominant-recessive – What we have been doing – One allele is dominant, one is recessive If dominant is present, it is.
Genes that are located on the sex chromosomes are sex-linked genes. In mammals, individuals with two X chromosomes, an XX genotype, are females. Individuals.

Patterns of Inheritance A Foldable PowerPoint

Incomplete Dominance Occurs when neither allele is completely dominant or completely recessive Results in a blending of the two alleles. Example: Red flower x white flower = pink flower

Codominance Occurs when both dominant and recessive traits are expressed equally Blood type is an example

Polygenic Traits Traits that are produced with two or more genes Eye color and skin color are examples (notice how many different eye colors or skin color variations there are)

Sex-linked Genes Genes on the sex-chromosomes Females are XX, males are XY Any recessive X’s get passed down more easily in males For example, males are more prone to red-green colorblindness
