1) Oral Cavity Chewed up by the teeth. Sublingual, submandibular, and parotid glands produce saliva to begin the breakdown.
2) Esophagus The food travels down the esophagus to enter the stomach.
3) Stomach The main digestion is done here. Gastric acid breaks it down. The muscles in the stomach break it down physically by crushing it into smaller pieces.
4) Small Intestines Within the small intestine, an enzyme called sucrase is produced. This enzyme breaks down sugar, so a lot of digestion occurs here.
5) Large Intestine No digestion is done here. The large intestine absorbs the water and what little nutrients have not already been absorbed.
