Krakatoa – 1883 Was an island with a 2600 ft mountain off the coast of Java and Sumatra After eruption, the island was 1000 ft below sea level! Devastating tsunamis that killed over 36,000 people Explosion was apparently heard all the way to India and Australia Also led to global cooling
