Public/Private/Voluntary Sector Private Sector: Owned by individuals Main aims are profit/growth/survival. Public Sector: Not-for-profit (usually providing a service) Funded/controlled by government. Objs include efficiency, value for money (taxpayers!!). Voluntary Sector: Not-for-profit organisation Charities (local, national, international causes) Objs such as raise money for a cause & raise awareness of the cause.

Marketing in Non-profit Organisations Charities have very clear fundraising objectives to support their cause Similarities between marketing a charity and a consumer good include: - Market research - Move from expensive mail shots to internet and viral marketing campaigns - Both must assess the effectiveness of promotional campaigns.
