Centre for Sport and Exercise Science FACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES All intercalating degrees at Leeds arein Relation to Medicine. This is a stand alone degree, giving you the opportunity to develop an interest outside, although in many ways relevant to, medicine. The programme follows as closely as possible the final year of the BSc Sport & Exercise Science programmes offered by the Faculty. Duration 1 year. What is Sports Science in Relation to Medicine?

Centre for Sport and Exercise Science FACULTY OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES The 4 Disciplines of Sport and Exercise Science Biomechanics the study of the mechanics (forces and motions) of human movement – performance, technique and injury. Exercise Physiology how the body functions during exercise and how it responds to long term exercise training. – metabolism, respiration, body composition; muscle function. Motor Control the processes that underlie movement control, skill acquisition and retention. Sports Psychology the thoughts, feelings and emotions of individuals and how these influence human behaviour in sport and exercise.
