Educational Applications of Technology bookPress Educational Applications of Technology

About bookPress bookPress is an iPad app that allows users to create their own books in a print or eBook format, using both photos and text.

About the App Within the app, you can: insert text insert images insert shapes use pre-created layouts copy, paste and rearrange pages share the book (or certain pages from it!) via email or social media

In the Classroom bookPress is a great tool that can be used to encourage student creativity. It can be used in a variety of ways, both for presentation of information and for creating a project.

Presenting Information Students can use bookPress to create a book that presents information. An example in the Language Arts classroom would be having students create a book or pamphlet that describes the characters or themes of the book.

Project Creation The app can also be used to have students create their own books. This would be great in a Language Arts classroom during a unit about stories. Students could display many important outcomes through their book, such as story elements, writing and editing, and understanding the audience.

In the Classroom This app could truly be used in any type of classroom to encourage creativity and display understanding of a concept or unit. It is geared toward secondary students, as it is not intuitive as some apps might be (although elementary students could use it with some instruction).

Demo Let’s take a look at how simple it is to create a book!

Creating a Book Step One: Choose book settings, including size, title, author, and theme

Creating a Book Step Two: Add text, pictures, and shapes to create your story. You can resize pictures and format the text to your specifications.

Creating a Book Step Three: That’s it! You can change the layout and backgrounds to your liking, but it really is as simple as 1-2-3! Simply share your file and your book is finished.
