Background The performance of a parachute will be affected by different variables.In last experiment we have investigated the relation between parachute surface areas and its falling speed. Some other examples of variable effecting the parachute performance is layers of parachute.

Objective To investigate the relation between parachute number of layers and falling speed

Design a fair test i) Variable to be changed : Number of layers ii) Variables to be kept constant : Type of string Condition of weather Distance of flight Number of type iii) what to compare : Time of parachute stay in the air.

Procedures Prepare two parachute one with one layer and one with two layers. Prepare 8 strings of the same length Make 4 holes on the 4 corners of each parachute Attach one string to each hole Tie the strings up at a distance 30 cm. Hang a tape at the end of each parachute Drop the parachute from 6/floor and count the time in the air.

Discussion Possible error : Air (weather) Corresponding improvement : try another day

Conclusion If the parachute is with more layers , than it will stay in the air for longer time.

Findings of investigation Our favorable variables for parachute: 2 layers are better than 1 layer.And layers area contain better than smaller area.
