Extreme sport

HISTORY The origin of the divergence of the term "extreme sports" from "sports" may date to the 1950s in the appearance of a phrase usually, but wrongly, attributed to Ernest Hemingway[8]. The phrase is "There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games." The implication of the phrase was that the word "sport" defined an activity in which one might be killed. The other activities being termed "games". The phrase may have been invented by either writer Barnaby Conrad or automotive author Ken Purdy[8]. In recent decades the term extreme sport was further promoted by X Games, a multi-sport event created and developed by ESPN.[9][10] The first X Games (known as 1995 Extreme Games) were held in Newport, Providence, Mount Snow, and Vermont in the United States.[11][12] The first authoritative history of the sports was published in 2004. Amped: How Big Air, Big Dollars and a New Generation Took Sports to the Extreme was written by journalist David Browne and published by Bloomsbury. The book provided an overview of the history, culture, and business of the sports and included interviews with athletes, company owners, and marketers.

Sport climbing You can climb a mountain, but also a rock. Or a wall. Rock climbing is with Wall climbing a new sport. The new sport is calling Sport climbing. You don't have to climb to the top, but about the climbing itself. There are matches is climbing. The fasted or the best climber wins. `

Wall climbing Wall climbing is also a kind of sport climbing, at this you must climb a wall. In a sport hall or a wall outside. In The Netherlands there are more than 40 climb walls. There are changeable and non- changeable walls. If you have been climbing for many years, then is a changeable wall more excitement. On a changeable wall you can made different routes, from easy till very different. On flat walls are grips and rungs. The people who climb are wearing climb shoes. At a climb wall you are allowed to climb under counseling. How old you most be, is per climb wall different.

Rock climbing Rock climbing is a form of Sport climbing. By this you must climb steep rocks. Mostly rocks aren't slippery. They have lumps and ribs, holes and cracks. Sport climbers have called even edges which you can hold ''grips''. And every edges which you can stand on '‘ steps ''. You don't wear mountain shoes but climb shoes. Climb shoes are flexible and they sit very tight round the foot. On a number of rocks are set tens of different routes. Every route have got a number and a name. How higher the number , how more difficult the route. The one that climbed the route at first, has made up the name. The hooks that the first climber hang up are staying. Other climbers can use them to save themselves. The hooks may not be used as even edges and grips. That’s one of the rules. You have to be 16 to get a climbing course. You will get a course in a famous climbing area. You learn there how to climb on rocks. You also can do wall climbing.

Skateboarding In the middle of the sixties a short, nice film introduced a new phenomenon: skateboarding. A new sport which took plank surfing, which is usually done in the surf. This new sensation became popular in the USA. National championship have been hold. The people liked the jumps, which the skateboarders made. At first this sport was done individual. Nowadays more and more people are looking for competitions. The majority of the people however is undoubtedly happiest when they can skateboard on the sidewalks or on the street, because it isn't easy at all and you must be a dare-devil. Skateboarding is the act of riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. A person who skateboards is most often referred to as a skateboarder, or just skater. Skateboarding can be a recreational activity, an art form, a job, or a method of transportation.[1] Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data found that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a board in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male.[2] Skateboarding is relatively modern. A key skateboarding maneuver, the Ollie, was developed in the late 1970s by Alan "Ollie" Gelfand as a half-pipe maneuver. Freestyle skateboarder Rodney Mullen was the first to take it to flat ground and later invented the kick flip and its variations

Base jumping BASE jumping is a highly dangerous sport that can easily injure and kill participants. Think long and hard before making a BASE jump. We do not recommend BASE jumping to anybody. You, and you alone, are responsible for your safety. Always seek proper training and mentoring before attempting any sort of BASE jumping. Wherever you jump; take only pictures, leave only footprints.

Deep Dive Different divers have different ideas about when a dive is considered a deep dive. To put it in perspective, an Open Water Diver is certified to dive to 60 feet / 18 meters and an Advanced Open Water diver is certified to dive to 100 feet / 30 meters. As part of the Advanced Open Water course a student will complete a Deep Dive to 100 feet / 30 meters, so for an Advanced Open Water Diver any depth greater than 60 feet / 18 meters could be called deep. The limit of recreational diving is considered to be 140 feet / 40 meters and this is the depth that a diver trained in deep diving is certified to descend to. Usually, a deep dive is considered to be a dive between 100 feet / 30 meters and 140 feet / 40 meters.

Rodeo Fantasy rodeo or bull riding works the same as it does in other sports. It is basically a game that is played by watching rodeo and bull riding and trying to pick who you think will do best in the event. Players complete against each other by picking a 'team' (in rodeo terms a team is just a selection of various competitors and/or livestock). That team will determine your results based off of the real world competition of your picks. Points are rewarded for how well your team did versus the teams of other players.

Downhill skiing The downhill is an alpine skiing discipline. The rules for the downhill were originally developed by Sir Arnold Lunn for the 1921 British National Ski Championships. "Downhill skiing" is also commonly a term synonymous with "alpine skiing" to denote the sport and recreational activity of alpine skiing in general. More generally, the term may be used in any sport involving the speedy descent of a hillside. Examples include snowboarding, mountain biking, different skateboarding variants, such as street luge and longboarding, freebording and mountain boarding and even municycling. The "downhill" discipline involves the highest speeds and therefore the greatest risks of all the alpine events. Racers on a typical international-level course will exceed speeds of 130 kilometers per hour (80 mph) and some courses, such as the famous Lauberhorn course in Wengen, Switzerland, and the Hahnenkamm course in Kitzbühel, Austria, speeds of up to 150 km/h (93 mph) in certain sections are expected. Competing in the downhill event requires of racers considerable strength and technical expertise.

Snowboarding Snowboarding is a sport that involves descending a slope that is either partially or fully covered with snow on a snowboard attached to a rider's feet using a special boot set into a flexible mounted binding. The development of snowboarding was inspired by skateboarding, surfing and skiing. It was developed in the United States in the 1960s and the 1970s and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998
