CLOUDS

Objective 18: I can identify the different types of clouds, and explain how clouds can be used to determine weather.

Clouds need 2 things to form: Cooling temperatures Condensation nuclei (particles in the air for water to condense on)

Cumulus – puffy cotton balls (nice day clouds) Stratus – thick low level blanket, like on an overcast day (sometimes brings rain) Cumulus – puffy cotton balls (nice day clouds) Cirrus – high wispy, wind blown feathers (ice crystals inside) Cumulonimbus – Thunderstorm clouds (very tall, dark)

Which kind?

CIRRUS CLOUDS!

Which kind?

CUMULUS CLOUDS!

Which kind?

CUMULONIMBUS CLOUDS!

Which kind?

STRATUS CLOUDS!

Objective 19 I can describe relative humidity and dew point Relative Humidity: The percentage of water vapor in the air compared to the maximum amount of water vapor the air can hold at a particular temperature. ***The closer the temperatures of the wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures, the higher the humidity will be Dew Point – The temperature at which condensation begins.
