1.1 – Safety in the classroom The five things you should consider about safety while in the classroom include: General Glassware Chemicals Hot Plates & Bunsen Burners Electrical Equipment

1.1 – Safety in the classroom General Always work under supervision Make sure you know the procedure Make sure you know how to use your lab equipment Always use proper PPE (eyewear, gloves, ect) (PPE = personal protective equipment) Loose clothing, hair, sandals = DANGER! Food or drinks are no good! Horseplay = VERY dangerous! Emergency Equipment – Know it!

1.1 – Safety in the classroom Chemicals Wash immediately if you come in contact Do not rub eyes !!!! Waft to smell a substance Containers away and down when pouring Do not put pens in mouth Sinks – keep clean and ask the teacher about chemical disposal Clean up instructions
