Presentation transcript:

Pastoral Care May-Respect As we approach the end of the school year you might reflect on the word respect – a simple word but it holds a lot

Respect – Wellbeing Its for everyone !

R – Real E – S – self belief – remenebr if you don’t respect yourself then you cant expect others to do it. P – Personal – the real you needs to come forward – you might have C- caution – sometimes you can show lack of repsect by the way you talk about or eve nlook at people – we are all sensitive to this T – time – or even think before you speak or text – it might be respectful to take it from otheres and ignore – you can never be sure whats going on in other peoples lives

Here's a thought …….. We are always willing to blame someone else for our problems . Perhaps we need to look in the mirror ( or the phone nowadays….!)

Brings up a specific issue…. If we respect each other than : We treat each other as equals Equals means your not better than anyone else your not superior to anyone else Your not more cool than anyone else in fact your pretty unimportant without anyone else in your life

Think about this………. All our vital organs are very much the same colour …… You heart, Your Brain , Your lungs …… Colour is pretty unimportant ……. Yes that word colour…… Its interesting that everyone of any colour has the same organs – your heart shouldn’t be so quick to judge others by colour !

Yes that word colour………

Be honest now……. How many times do we use language about others that’s not acceptable In your phones texts or social media usage – your language …… the way you refer to others ….. Need I say more ……. Name calling in general……….. We are all aware how hurtful and disrespectful it is.

Now lets get real……. Nothing justifies being a bully Using someone's colour / race or sexual orientation as a form of abuse is not acceptable You cant escape by calling it “messing” your simply being a coward.- take responsibility for your actions You might look at that word RESPECT again …… think about it

Take a look at all the different flags of the Nations we have in school hre. These are displayed over the GP doors. See how many you can recognise.

Finally ……. Respect each other Expect the best from ourselves Support each other Be Pleasant to each other Enjoy the company of others be Caring to each other be Tolerant of each other

Finally…….. Look at the ways you depend on people….. Parents/ guardians Sisters/brothers Friends We like to think we are a family here too!

Last thought ! You must admit the use of colour in the PowerPoint was a little bit nicer surely….. Again that word colour…….. Would’nt the world be a very dull place without it!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT-HBl2TVtI
