This is Lacey! She has been learning how to count to 10 in her kindergarten class. One day, Lacey’s teacher announced, “Class next week we’re going to the farm! Our mission is to count how many of each animal we see.” Lacey had never been to a farm before, she was so excited for the field trip that she could hardly get any sleep the night before. She was ready to count how many animals she would see! When they arrived at the farm, the farmer brought the class to the barn and let the kids wander about to explore. They saw cows, horses, pigs, sheep, ducks, rabbits, goats, donkeys, llamas, and chickens! There were so many animals they could hardly keep track! “Wow!” Lacey shouted with joy, “There are so many cool animals here!” She started off on her journey to count the animals. Let’s follow Lacey’s adventure through the farm as she counts how many animals she sees!

“First stop, the llamas!” Lacey was off to see how many llamas she could find. How many llamas are eating grass? ONE

“Next stop the sheep, they must be inside because I don’t see any out here” Lacey said. How many sheep are in the pen? TWO

“Yay horses are next. My favorite animal. ” Lacey exclaimed “Yay horses are next! My favorite animal!” Lacey exclaimed. How many horses are galloping through the field? THREE

“Off to the donkeys, like the silly one in Shrek “Off to the donkeys, like the silly one in Shrek!” Lacey joyfully announced. How many donkeys are in the pasture? FOUR

“Oh boy lets go see how many muddy pigs there are “Oh boy lets go see how many muddy pigs there are!” Lacey said hurrying to the pig pen. How many pigs are rolling in the mud? FIVE

“Quack quack” (in the distance) “I hear the ducks. ” Lacey shouted “Quack quack” (in the distance) “I hear the ducks!” Lacey shouted. How many ducklings are in the line? SIX

The farmer called Lacey over to the chicken coop and asked if she would help collect the eggs for the day. How many chickens are in the coop? SEVEN

“Oh no. Lacey yelled, “some of the goats are in the road “Oh no! Lacey yelled, “some of the goats are in the road!” How many escaped the farm? EIGHT

“Aw theres the fluffy rabbits. ” Lacey said with excitement “Aw theres the fluffy rabbits!” Lacey said with excitement. How many rabbits are huddled together? NINE

“Mooo Moooo” (in the distance). “Last stop, the cows “Mooo Moooo” (in the distance). “Last stop, the cows!” How many cows are looking at you? TEN

Counting is a piece of cake!
