Reports RECOGNITION OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE WORKING GROUP – UPDATE REPORT Support had been provided by Ms Slater and Ms Leman and the Policy had been re-drafted with an expectation that it would be provided to a future Board meeting. 2017 JCU RETENTION AND COMPLETIONS REPORT the Board noted that although the Board would accept the report and approve the strategies, the endorsement of the recommendations with regard to resourcing remained within the purview of the various Divisions of the University and the Vice Chancellor’s Advisory Committee as part of their overall budget considerations.

Policy POLICY AMENDMENT – ACADEMIC PROGRESSION POLICY AND RELATED Ms Leman attended for the item and the Board noted the Mission Statement developed by the Working Group had been accomplished and the Progression Policy and Procedures were ready for commencement for use in 2019. ADMISSIONS POLICY SCHEDULE II – PROPOSED AMENDMENTS the Board noted that after extensive benchmarking four main amendments were proposed to align JCU with its competitors. The Board further noted that the new Band to accommodate the sub- degree programs was unnamed and although Band S had been suggested at Education Committee meeting (5/18), further consultation was required with members to finalise the name.

2019 SUBJECT OUTLINE TEMPLATE AND GUIDE The (Word) Template represents the minimum requirements that must be included in all JCU subject outlines, as per Learning, Teaching and Assessment Policy: 8.2 A subject outline, complying with the requirements of the endorsed JCU Subject Outline Guide and Template, will be completed for each coursework subject and uploaded to the relevant LearnJCU site at least 7 days prior to the commencement of a prescribed study period. The (PDF) Guide is a resource for Subject Coordinators, providing them with references from the Higher Education Standards and JCU policies, as relevant to requisite sections, as well as support resources (e.g. a comprehensive list of JCU Assessment types as Appendix A).
