The Personal Essay Purpose: To give the reader insight into an event or idea that has shaped your life.

The Personal Essay The Personal Essay is highly personal and varied. It can take many forms. The author’s attitude or moods towards the subject makes or breaks the essay. Your approach should be frank and intimate- Be yourself!!

The Personal Essay The virtue of the essay comes from the writer, not the subject. The Personal Essay has a casual, informal tone which no other form of writing (except “The Letter”) has. The Title is important . It should be interesting and meaningful. For Example: Who Needs a Villa in France, When You Have a Horseshoe Pit in Your Backyard!
