Christian Denominations

This means different sub-groups within one main group. What is a DENOMINATION? This means different sub-groups within one main group.

What does this mean? This means that there are many different types of Christians, but they all belong to the main religion called Christianity.

All Christians: A.) Believe in one god B.) Follow the teachings of Jesus Christ C.) Their holy book is called the bible

This is a list of some of the different denominations: Roman Catholics Methodists Presbyterian Catholic Church of England Baptist

Roman Catholics This is the largest Christian Church in the world. The Pope at the Vatican is the head. Bishops are said to be successors of the apostles. (Jesus’ disciples) Catholics seek forgiveness of sins. (confession)

Church of England Called the established church Modern in their views; allow women as leaders. The Supreme Governor is the head of the church.

Methodists They study the bible in an orderly way. They believe in repentance. They have been known to have lively and enthusiastic ways of worship. Founded by John Wesley.

Baptists Only allow adults, not babies Have adult baptism Have no chain of command, but instead have leaders called preachers ADD THIS AT THE BOTTOM: There are more than 41 million members of the Baptist church.
