Course Options for Rising Freshman Pre-AP World History to 1500 Academic World History to 1500 Both Courses Address same content Primary Source Analysis .5 Bump on GPA Prepare students for AP WH Independent learner with previous writing experiences Emphasis on essay writing Aim for timed tests by end of year Up to 60 minutes of HW between blocks No Bump Short Answer questions/Shorter essays Developing writing skills Visual and written projects per quarter Untimed tests Up to 30 minutes of HW between blocks

Course Options for Rising Sophomores AP World History Academic World History since 1500 Both Courses -Address Same Content -Primary Source Analysis -Aim for real world applications Focus from Prehistoric to modern period (Review of WH1-rapid pace) Focus on Essay Writing: CCOT, Compare, Causes and DBQ 2-3 essays per quarter 1-2 Large Tests addressing multiple units per quarter Timed Tests 60 plus minutes of HW per block Advanced writer 1.0 Bump Focus on History from 1500 to modern period (slower paced) Short Answer Responses and Shorter essays Visual/written projects per quarter 3-4 Smaller unit tests per quarter Untimed Tests 30 minutes of HW per block Developing writer -No Bump

Credit. 6 College credits via NOVA. Credits transfer to all public universities in Va. and some privates. 1.0 GPA Bump Chapter reading/Quizzes 2-3 Essays per quarter Pre-Writing/Scaffolding exercises Research Paper.
