The Whites

Schmitges, Grauschiefer Riesling, Qualitätswein 2016 A fruity, creamy riesling with good substance and elegant, mineral-dominated finale and clear slate note. From Erden (across the river from Ürzig), grown on grey slate clays, stainless steel fermentation with a short rest on the lees, 7.4 g/l acidity and 8.9 g/l residual sugar. 12.5% alcohol. C.H. Berres, Ürziger Würzgarten Pinot Blanc, Qualitätswein 2015 Vinified on the lees, clean, clear fruit, fresh and animating fruit acid and well balanced sweetness. Grown in the Würzgarten vineyard in Ürzig, very steep lava-affected slate sitting in a sun trap. Unusual grape for the area. 7.4 g/l acidity, 18.4% g/l residual sugar. 12% alcohol. Peter Terges, Trierer Deutschherrenberg Riesling, Auslese 2003 Peter is known for his sweet wines produced from a very special hill south of Trier. He thinks this is his best ever wine and he describes it as “angels pissing on your tongue”. 7.5% alcohol.
