Strategies Data Collection using National Clearinghouse Student Tracker System ($425 per district) Early College High School and program choice in Canton City Schools Continuing to increase AP and College Tech Prep

Strategies (continued) High School Based Dual Credit (HSBDC) is…“taught at the high school by a teacher who qualifies to be a college adjunct to the same rigor and standards as on the college campus. A student may receive both high school and college credit for the same course.” Our HSBDC Partners: Kent State University-Main and Stark Campuses, Stark State College, University of Akron, University of Mount Union, Walsh University

High School Based Dual Credit Has Grown

What Does HSBDC Cost? $23-$41 per semester credit hour as negotiated by the Stark County ESC with participating colleges Application fees are waived Textbook and course materials covered by district Public institutions retain SSI Some, but not all districts, will charge parents between $30-$50 for a three-credit hour course

What is the Scholarship Impact? Benefit to Stark County families and students for credit earned during the 2009-10 academic year could range between $860,000 – $5,000,000 (textbooks excluded) depending where students eventually transfer credit

New Challenges The compass math score prerequisite will increase from 42 to 55 for the class of 2014 A compass score of 55 equates to an ACT score of 22 http://www.brunnermath.com/
