What are the Metric Measures of Volume? The Liter (l) and Cubic Centimeter (cm3) Chapter 1.5

What is volume? Volume - is the amount of space an object takes up.

Formula for Volume of Rectangle Volume = length x width x height Volume = L x W x H

Example A box measures 10cm by 10 cm by 10cm. What is its volume? Volume = L x W x H Volume = 10cm x 10cm x10cm Volume = 1000 cm3

Example A box measures 5cm by 6cm by 10cm. What is its volume? Volume = L x W x H Volume = 5cm x 6cm x 10cm Volume = 300 cm3 6cm 5cm 10cm

How to measure liquids? Liquids can be measured with a graduated cylinder. Liquids are often measured in mL and L.

Volume of a Liquid Big bottle where are soft drinks have the measurements of L (liter). 1,000 cm3 = 1 L =

Self-check page 19 #1 and 2 A box measures 8cm by 9cm by 12cm. What is its volume? What is the volume of a stainless-steel container with a length of 18mm, width of 20mm, and height of 10mm?
