Population: 550,000 Current Energy Source: Nuclear Power Parsonsville Population: 550,000 Current Energy Source: Nuclear Power

CLAIM I believe a combination of Hydroelectricity and Wind Energy is the best renewable energy option for Parsonsville.

Evidence From May – October, the Titan River flows at a rate of 0.38 m3/s and a gross head of 10m, which is enough hydro energy to generate electricity. From November – April, Parsonsville experiences an average wind speed of 7mph, which exceeds the 5.5 mph needed to turn a wind turbine.

Environmental Benefits Hydroelectric No air pollution, better health of citizens. Because of the water cycle, this is a reliable renewable resource. Can be used as flood control and irrigation. Wind Energy No air pollution, better health of citizens Renewable and reliable resource for our city. No greenhouse gas emissions.

Reasoning Since Parsonsville is located near the Titan river which has enough water flow during the May – October months to reliably generate electricity, and then experiences an average sustained wind speed of 7.0 mph during the November – April month, which is required for generating wind energy, I believe Parsonsville can convert to a combination of these two reliable renewable energy source.
