Challenges of Field Placements Just considering secondary placements (CI, PBI and AT) Expect to need 30 placements for spring 2018 Within 60 minute radius Candidates are not reimbursed for travel by UCA Matching candidates’ schedules to teacher schedules Competition for classroom teachers with other Central Arkansas universities and other UCA programs (middle-level and MAT) Over the road costs: time: 0.5 to 1.5 hours of driving for each trip to field; Cost of travel (not to mention need for a car in the first place): @ 0.41/mile (state rate): $4-$22 lost wages to student for each trip: $4-$11
