The baking bread smelled good. What do you remember? Label as many words as you can with the parts of speech…. The baking bread smelled good.

LA 10- Parts of Speech Notes NOUN a person, place or thing Can be used as a subject The DOG went outside. Can be used as an object for a verb The BOY kicked the BALL.

PRONOUN A word that substitutes for a noun HE decided to walk to the movies. There is nothing for you to do.

ARTICLE Any word used to signal the presence of a noun A, AN, THE

CONJUCTION A word that connects other words, phrases or sentences And, but, or, because She was going to walk but then it started to rain.

ADJECTIVE A word or combination of words that modifies (or describes) a noun Her blue jacket is really old. The temporary parking lot is looking full.

VERB A word that expresses action, existence or occurrence I ran four miles today. They decided their puppy needed a haircut.

ADVERB A word that modifies a verb, adjective or another adverb She walked slowly through the door. The orange snake slowly made its way through the classroom.

PREPOSITION A word that shows a relationship of a noun to another noun By, in, to, from, with, through She decided to come through the front door.
