Mission is why the church exists Prayer is our first resort Relationships matter more than programs Equipping in faith leads to Christ-likeness

Out of the generosity of Christ, each of us is given his own gift… He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor-teacher to train Christ’s followers in skilled servant work, working within Christ’s body, the church, until we’re all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God’s Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ. Ephesians 4:7, 11-13

God knew what he was doing from the very beginning God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.  Romans 8:29

"God’s purpose in our learning is that we become Christlike, not that we become information databases. People might be impressed by how much information we have stored away. God is concerned with how much we’ve been transformed into the image of his Son." Eugene Peterson

After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun. Romans 8:30
