A PYRAMID OF NEEDS THIS HIERARCY OF NEEDS -IS A RANKED LIST OF THOSE NEEDS ESSENTIAL TO HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. THERE ARE 5 LEVELS OF THE PYRAMID LEVEL 1- PHYSICAL LEVEL 2- SAFETY LEVEL 3- BELONGING LEVEL 4- FEELING RECOGNIZED LEVEL 5- REACHING POTENTIAL H

LEVEL 1 PHYSICAL NEEDS -IN THIS LEVEL ONE NEEDS TO SATISFY THE BASIC NEEDS OF HUNGER, THIRST, SLEEP, AND SHELTER. - PEOPLE WHO ARE DENIED THESE BASIC NEEDS BECOME PHYSICALLY WEAK AND MAY DEVELOP ILLNESSES.

LEVEL 2 SAFETY -IN THIS LEVEL ONE NEEDS TO BE SECURE FROM DANGER. YOU NEED THE SAFETY OF FAMILIAR PLACES AND PEOPLE THAT HELP YOU FEEL SECURE. -EXAMPLES INCLUDE: YOUR HOME, FAMILY, OR TRUSTED FRIENDS.

LEVEL 3 BELONGING IN THIS LEVEL EVERYONE NEEDS TO GIVE LOVE AND TO KNOW THAT THEY ARE LOVED. - BABIES THAT ARE DENIED EMOTIONAL ATTENTION MAY BE STUNTED MENTALLY. - THEY MAY ALSO FAIL TO THRIVE AND MAY DEVELOP BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS LATER IN LIFE.

LEVEL 4 FEELING RECOGNIZED - IN THIS LEVEL ONE NEEDS TO ACHIEVE AND NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED. - MOST OF US NEED TO BE APPRECIATED AND VALUED BY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND PEERS. (TO REACH THIS NEED YOU MAY NEED TO PARTICIPATE IN PRODUCTIVE ACTIVITIES)

LEVEL 5 REACHING POTENTIAL IN THIS LEVEL ONE NEEDS TO HAVE SELF-ACTUALIZATION.(REACHING YOUR FULL POTENTIAL AS A PERSON) -SELF-ACTUALIZATION- IS STRIVING TO BECOME THE BEST YOU CAN BE. -THIS INCLUDES HAVING GOALS THAT MOTIVATE AND INSPIRE YOU. - ONE NEEDS TO HAVE COURAGE TO MAKE CHANGES IN THEIR LIFE IN ORDER TO REACH THEIR GOALS.

PROMOTING MENTAL/EMOTIONAL HEALTH -KNOWING THE FACTORS THAT AFFECT YOUR MENTAL/EMOTIONAL HEALTH WILL HELP YOU CHOOSE BEHAVIORS THAT PROMOTE HEALTH. -REMEMBER THAT ENGAGING IN HEALTHY BEHAVIORS COULD HELP PREVENT ILLNESS AND INJURY AND WILL STRENGTHEN ALL 3 SIDES OF THE HEALTH TRIANGLE.
