What is Marketing? Act or process of selling, purchasing, distributing, and //promoting a product or service Creating value that is commuted and communicated from //producer to consumer

Why Is Marketing Important? Our economy partially revolves around marketing Businesses use marketing to make their companies money Without marketing, there would be no organization Marketing creates “top of mind” awareness. This means that ///the business is “famous” If your business isn’t known, then it wont succeed

History of marketing Marketing can go back to ancient times. Pompeii, Rome, and Greece. They were said to wear sandals that left the words “follow me” in the sand. Customers would follow their steps to their place of business.

Examples Of Marketing PRINT ADVERTISING: You can send a variety of messages through this, brand oriented or direct response - ex) newspaper; magazine DIRECT MAIL: Although it isn’t used much, it is(was) a significant way to sell your product - ex) postcards; brochures; flyers TV AND RADIO: This is the most efficient way because you attract a larger group of people -ex) radio commercials; TV commercials ONLINE MARKETING- ~ PAY PER CLICK: bidding on search items; having ads appear when relevant words are searched in a search engine ~ BANNER ADVERTISING: graphic advertisement placed on relevant sites; takes customer straight to the site

The Dallas Cowboys The Dallas Cowboys are a professional, American football Franchise in the Eastern Division of the NFC of the NFL. They are head quartered in in Valley Ranch Irving, Texas. They play in Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Texas. They are valued at an estimated 1.65 billion dollars. They are also the wealthiest team in the NFL; generating about 2.69 million dollars in annual revenue.

How They Do It For the NFL to make money, they have to make an agreement with each team for the //money they //generate. For the teams to make money, they have to sell a product They sell tickets, jerseys, other apparel, coffee mugs, lunch boxes, etc. The Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleaders are also a way of marketing

To sell these things, they use advertising, sponsorships, and the online pro-shop. These, in turn, are all forms of marketing. ADVERTISING: The action of calling something to the attention of the public especially by paid announcements SPONSORSHIP: One who assumes responsibility for another person/group during a period of time of instruction or apprenticeship; finances a project/event carried out by another person/group

Why Is This Important? If in the future, you plan to own your own business, you will need to figure out a “marketing plan.” Along with this you will need to be able to advertise your business and product. It’s important to know about the world around you. You see advertising all around you everyday. It is always in different forms; advertising is the main one. This will help aid you in your future plans for work.
