Money should be “ring fenced” That was the promise But soon afterwards- questions about its usefulness started to emerge Interest in SAS doctors surged

National Funding for SAS Development Not ring fenced Now under Education budget in general-covering everybody- apprentices, nursing students medical students, etc It’s about ALL Healthcare workers’ training Most regions still receive funding for their SAS Doctors

National Meeting between the BMA SASC and HEE this week Need to continue to provide funding for SAS doctors was discussed

National Extra two days leave Annual Spring Meeting Few SAS Tutors in attendance

Regional Government spending review- affecting every section Evidence in improved patient care is crucial for continuation of funding Government target is to train more doctors in Emergency Medicine, Elderly Medicine, Old age psychiatry Future funding will be directed towards these
