Civil War & Reconstruction Day 2 Civil War & Reconstruction #1 due Thursday @ 10:45 p.m. The Big Idea The United States began to tear apart over the issue of slavery and states’ rights. Finally, something had to give. The Civil War erupted in South Carolina, and lasted from 1861-1865. In the end, North and South reunited, the country was reconstructed, but Abraham Lincoln, perhaps our greatest president, was dead. Need a poster board by tomorrow! Warm – Up Turn in your puzzle folder to me “The Story of Us: Division” Objective: TLW understand how political, economic, and social factors led to the growth of sectionalism and the Civil War. Activity: Have students write down the warm up in their journal, discuss. Then watch “The Story of Us – Division” and have students take notes on page 3 in their journal.
