Wakeland Girls Basketball The Game is Temporary, Family is Forever #GTFF

The Wakeland Way High expectations to represent our school with class and character on and off the court…..in school and out in the community Teaching work ethic, responsibility, and communication Team building/Volunteer activities Clothe A Child (November) Pumpkin Patch-Oct 10 @ 4:30 @ Grace Avenue Other ideas?

The Wakeland Way Take care of issued equipment-if you lose it, you buy it We will look the same as a Team before/during/after games-team shirts/sweats. This is an expectation. Shoes-Navy and white Team store

Team Store

Parent Expectations Cheer for the Wolverines- not just your Wolverine Don’t allow drama at home about other kids, and don’t bring it yourself. Show respect for players, coaches, spectators, and administrators. Don’t criticize other players. Please do not try to get your child’s attention during a game. Let us coach and you cheer. You can hash it out at home. ENJOY the game!!! Winning is great, but not at the expense of morals, ethics, and common sense.

Parent Expectations Injuries-Do not send parent notes. I will have them to see the trainer/do what they can. Chain of Command-we will always meet with athlete first before meeting with a parent. Will not discuss…..playing time, other athletes, coaching decisions. PLEASE do not approach a coach after a game; set up a meeting. Very likely that mean emails will be deleted. Every day is not a great day. Your daughter may come home some days and need to vent….let her, and move on.

Please Remember They are kids. We are the coaches. This is ONLY a game. The referees are human. Your child may not be a Division I athlete which is okay. Be careful about asking the “why” question.

Game Schedule Note District game times when boys begin playing with us. Please note the order of 9th/JV district games. (Heritage-no 9th) Game Directions can be found on www.wolverineclub.com

Game Days We will stay and support one another at home and away games We will go and come back as a TEAM (ride bus to and from game) Exception-special circumstances that have been communicated prior to game or an emergency. We will sit together as a TEAM at games

Practice Schedule We expect a call before practice if an athlete is going to be late or absent. Miss a practice/Make up a practice Practice Schedule is always subject to change…communicate with your daughter. Look at practice during Winter Break Commitment to be on the team…please be here

Make a commitment to be on time!!!! Practice in the morning….please have them here on time (Generally we will start at 7:30-be here 15 min prior) Varsity will practice on some Saturdays from 8-10. (SAT/ACT are exceptions) Please be on time to pick up players after games/practice.

Disrespect to Teacher or Coach: Any act of disrespect by an athlete to his/her teacher, coach, or member of school administration will be handled on an individual basis. Discipline may call for expulsion from athletic activities for one calendar year from date of incident. His/Her return would be determined by his/her conduct during the period of the expulsion. School vs. Club Expectations: All school practices and games will take priority over club practices and games. An effort will be made to work with an athlete in club sports.

Social Media Is a necessary evil. Be mindful of words. Be mindful of timing. No inappropriate pictures or messages about life on or off the court. Think before you send/retweet. These will be dealt with on an individual basis. Remember- You are always representing Wakeland!

Tutorials Tutorials need to be scheduled during advisory or after school. Communication is EXPECTED in advance from the student-athlete in regards to tutorial/retesting/etc. that is not able to be done after school.

Injury vs Hurt SEE OUR TRAINER FIRST! They are here at 7:30 every day for treatment/rehab. Will do their best to get them playing/ practicing ASAP Team doctor is here at 7:30 am on Monday Trainers: Coach Womble - wombler@friscoisd.org Coach Langford- langforr@friscoisd.org Trainers Office 469-633-5776
