PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Carbon + Water Glucose + Oxygen The Formulas 6CO2 + 6H2O C6H12O6 + 6O2 Carbon + Water Glucose + Oxygen
How does it relate to Cellular Respiration? Photosynthesis uses the products of cellular respiration and cellular respiration uses the products of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis stores energy and cellular respiration releases energy.
Where is it all happening? Chloroplast
The Chloroplast
Chloroplast Structure & Location Chloroplasts are located in the cytoplasm of plant cells.
The whole process actually occurs in two different stages: How it all happens…. The whole process actually occurs in two different stages: The photo stage & The synthesis stage
The PHOTO Stage This stage supplies the chemical energy needed to drive the synthesis stage. This stage is also known as the light dependent reactions. The light reactions take place in the thylakoid membranes. Uses captured light energy and water to make ATP and NADPH.
The SYNTHESIS Stage This stage stores chemical energy in the bonds of glucose. This process is also known as the light independent reactions or Calvin Cycle. These reactions take place in the thylakoid stroma. Uses NADPH and ATP to make glucose and starch.
