Andre Ampere of France, worked out principles governing the magnetic effect of an electrical current. In 1837, Samuel Morse (USA) created Morse Code a system of dots and dashes. He invented the telegraph. Alexander Graham Bell in 1876, transmitted first human voice over wires A.K.A the telephone.

New Methods Telegraphs were the new way to communicate. Stretched across continents. Underwater cables were created.(heavily insulated) 1850s – cable was laid across English channel and connected UK and the European continent. 1866 - a telegraph cable was successfully laid across the Atlantic Ocean.

Smaller World? Physical distance is no longer a barrier to communication. With the ability to communicate instantly, the entire world became our next door neighbor; our news is their news, their news is ours. It connected everybody everywhere. A person across the world was really only a few “clicks” away. It made it much faster to send a message for notification dealing with trade.

Predictions for impact Instead of waiting months on end for letters to be exchanged Great Britain could now communicate instantly with whomever. Great Britain would be able to spread their ideas, hopes and concerns with the whole planet instantly. They could better their relationships with other countries and learn more about the way they operate. England will become the foot-hold of all telegraph wires.

How it will spread & how it will impact other countries Communication will spread quickly all around the world because eventually every country all around the world will have telegraph wires set up. It will spread because with all the new methods of communication people will learn of new advancements faster. It will impact other countries because not only will England have advanced communication, but the whole world will. More telegraphs wires will span the globe.

More Important Than All the Rest Our topic is the most important advancement of the revolution because it connected the world! Communication made everything easier. No longer were different countries foreign and distant. Now they were brought together as one of inter-connected family.
