What is diversity? Text CARLOSGUZMAN697 to 22333

Activity one: learning the truth Pair up with someone who you do not know and who is different from you. One will listen and the other will speak for five minutes and then switch. The listener will ask: “What is it like for you as a (gender, racial/ethnic group) in your organization?” “How do you feel supported or unsupported to be successful?”

Activity Two: Ancestral Exercise Break into dyads. One will listen for five minutes and the other will speak. At the end of five minutes they will switch. The listener is not to say anything, just be attentive. I will tell everyone to avoid laughing or asking any questions. Listener will ask: What is your name? What is your real name? What is your race/ethnicity? What is good about being (your ethnic group)? What is hard about being (your ethnic group)? What do want others to know and understand about your group?

Questions?

“Diversity is before us “Diversity is before us. How we move through the world and express ourselves, and promote and celebrate others is crucial to creating understanding, compassion and acceptance.” – Carlos V. Guzman, PhD
