Literary Devices Centers Day 2 October 29th, 2014

Warm Up: Simile Warm Up: Simile Date: Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 Writing Prompt: "I am like a _________________ because ___________________."  Complete this simile and will then explain its meaning in more detail.  Your explanation must be at least 8 sentences long.

Agenda Learning Target:  Today I will review literary terms because they are a cornerstone of fully understanding literature. Homework Share Out Literary Devices Stations Show What You Know Take Your Plick

Literary Devices Centers You will each be assigned an iPad. Next, you will need to go to my blog, http://MsWillipedia.com. Click on “Digital Classroom Resources.” Next, click on “Literary Devices Centers.” Follow the instructions on the page. You may work on the assignments in any order and you may quietly consult with a classmate. You must, however, show proof of your work individually.

Show What You Know You will be presented with a selection of literary devices and possible subjects. You will have to combine the subject(s) with that literary device to make an interesting mini-story during one song. Good Luck! Students will be chosen at random to share!

Closing Take Your Plick: You will be shown up to four examples of literary devices in action.  You will have to identify which literary device is being used by selecting "A," "B," "C," or "D" on the Plickers card.   One student who answers correctly will be permitted to explain why that example is of a specific literary device.
