Writing Style Enid has written a variety of different story types such as: fairy tales, animals, detective, mystery and circus stories. She would shut her eyes for a few moments with her typewriter on her knee and make her mind go blank. She would imagine real children turning into characters. Then she would start to form a sentence about that character and the story would just come flowing into her mind naturally. She would not have to do anything else.

Her Books Enid has written over 800 books which have been translated into around 90 languages in her life time, selling over 600 million world wide, beating JK Rowling and Roald Dahl.

Awards Enid Blyton received 2 awards in her career. The first came from the boy’s club America for “The Mystery Island” in 1941. Enid was also chosen, after she died, in the 2008 Costa book award survey as the best-loved author in the UK.
