Welcome to Driver Education Mrs. Tolley

To Obtain a Driving Permit Show proof of age (6 points) pg. 13 in Manual Fee $10.00 Plus $4 for Decals Written Test with score of 80% Vision Test with score of 20/50 or better

Student Learner’s Permit Restrictions (16) No Driving between 11:01pm and 5:00am Driver can not use cell phone, or hand held electronic devices All permit holders must be accompanied by an adult driver who is 21 or older and driving for at least 3 years. Only 1 passenger is permitted in the vehicle, excluding parent/guardian and any dependents The driver and all passengers are required to wear a seatbelt Must have permit for a minimum of 6 months to apply for provisional license

New GDL Law All drivers under the GDL law are required to attach 1 red reflective decal to the Front & Rear license plate of whatever vehicle they are driving. Removable decals are issue for $4.00 1

Reasons for Rejection of car for Road test Failed or expired inspection sticker Instructor can’t reach the brake Poor Brakes Unsafe Tires Car not reasonably clean No Seatbelts Fast Engine Idle

If You Fail the Road Test? 1st Offense =2 weeks wait to reschedule 2nd Offense =2 weeks wait to reschedule 3rd Offense = 2 weeks wait to reschedule 4th Offense= 6 months wait to reschedule

If the driver is over 21 years old, there are no passenger or time restrictions & 3 month permit

Getting your License Basic Photo License=$24.00, 4 years Changes to License Notify MVC Address 1 week Name 2 weeks If your permit/License is lost or stolen Contact the Police within 24 hours Out Of State applicant= 60 days to convert to New Jersey License Obtaining an illegal Driver’s License or altering License = Fine, loss of Driving Privilege, jail time

Under the GDL law all drivers are on a probationary license for the first 2 years of the program. If more than 2 traffic offenses or a total of 4 points are accumulated within this period the driver’s license may be suspended. New license holders are considered provisional for 1 year.
