Why is an area model an appropriate visual representation of multiplication? (*Hint: Consider a rectangle).

When multiplying polynomials, you must be sure to multiply each term of the first polynomial by each term of the second polynomial. You can do this with the distributive property, or you can use visuals like an area model or stacking before multiplying to help you. Always combine like terms after multiplying.
