A colorful way to find the factors of given numbers Factor Rainbows A colorful way to find the factors of given numbers

Some important Definitions! Factor - a number that is MULTIPLIED to get a given product Product - the answer to a multiplication problem

So you've been given a number Let's go with twenty

Making Rainbows Always start with 1 and the number itself Connect the numbers with a rainbow arc

Work your way up from left to right getting bigger So after 1 comes 2 If it's an even number

Connect these with another rainbow arc 2x10=20 Connect these with another rainbow arc

You may have noticed As you work your way from right to left... The numbers get smaller Working your way to the middle until you run out of numbers

After 2 comes 3 But 3 is not a factor

Write them down; Draw the arc Moving on up to 4 Yup, 4x5=20 Write them down; Draw the arc

There is no number between 4 and 5 So you are done!!!

So this is your factor rainbow for 20 The factors of 20 are... 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, & 20
