€ What is Interreg? 107 Interreg is part of EU Cohesion policy and the main instrument for cooperation beyond borders to ensure territorial cohesion. € 107 Budget Programmes Results Priorities 10.1 billion EUR available for funding Cooperation is funded in 107 cross-border, transnational and interregional programmes Focus on results and simplification Up to 4 thematic priorities defined to maximise the impact of the available EU funding The financial framework: Interreg has less than 3% of total funds available for cohesion policy. These 10.1 billion EUR are shared across 107 cooperation programmes. Programmes are limited to 4 thematic priorities to maximise the impact of their funds.

Role of Interreg? Vision and mission Interreg establishes cooperation beyond borders as an important instrument for overcoming shared challenges in European cities and regions. We inspire cooperation beyond borders by funding and encouraging knowledge exchange - for professionals that jointly work on shared challenges to improve life in European cities and regions. With the rather limited funding and scope of Interreg in mind (see previous slide): What is the vision and mission of Interreg as a whole?

Capacity building and testing Feasibility and investment preparation role of interreg Capacity building and testing Feasibility and investment preparation Interreg Mainstreaming Jaspers and other technical assistance Structural & investment funds In addition to the previous slide: The positioning of Interreg in the cohesion policy „funding chain“.

Interreg Programmes These are just few of the 107 programmes in Europe… Many Interreg cross-border and transnational programmes harmonised their branding since 2015. Expect to see Interreg more often all across Europe. ;) Please make sure you check what other projects are out there, also beyond CENTRAL EUROPE. The MA/JS has regular exchanges with other programmes to promote synergies and to avoid overlaps.” The behind message is: “do not duplicate your project in more programmes”
